According to health officials the symptoms of COVID-19 look very much like the symptoms a person might experience when they get the common flu. Specific signs to look for include fever, cough, and shortness of breath. It can take anywhere from two to 14 days for a person to begin showing symptoms after they are initially exposed to the virus.
Initial symptoms include dry cough, shortness of breath, fever (anything over 100 degrees), headache, and sore muscles. In some cases the symptoms become more severe once the virus enters the lower respiratory tract. However, most people who contract the disease only experience mild symptoms that resemble the seasonal flu; these people do not require hospitalization according to the World Health Organization.
